Information on the cost of obstetric medical care

040verloskunde has contracts with all insurers. The invoice is submitted directly to your health insurance company. The care is 100% reimbursed from the basic insurance and will not be deducted from your ‘own risk’.

Uninsured or insured abroad?
If you are uninsured or have insurance abroad, you will receive an invoice from us. We ask you to pay this in accordance with our terms of payment by bank transfer or at one of our practice locations by pin or cash.

Prices
The rate for obstetric care is set annually by the Dutch Healthcare Authority and applies to all midwives working in the Netherlands. For 2025, the amount for full care (pregnancy, delivery and maternity) has been set at €2,129.74. If you have been under our care for a shorter period, we will declare the obstetric care in accordance with the established part rates and services. The start of care is the date from when you are registered with us. The 040 team is available to you 24/7 with full availability and accessibility.

Additional examination
Some ultrasounds with a medical indication are reimbursed from your basic insurance. If you are referred to the hospital for additional examination or counseling, these costs are also reimbursed within your basic insurance. However, some blood tests are deducted from your deductible. Costs that are not standard reimbursed from the basic insurance:

  • Personal contribution for a hospital birth without medical indication
  • Some additional blood tests or some ultrasounds: varies per test
  • Pregnancy courses Note: In some cases, the above costs are reimbursed by your insurance with additional insurance conditions. If you would like to know more, please contact your insurance company.
