The pregnancy hormone progesterone causes the walls of your veins to slacken. This also happens around your anus, causing a type of varicose veins in this area as well: hemorrhoids. Pressure increases, adding to this effect.
Our tips & advice for hemorrhoids during pregnancy
Be careful with heat (such as a hot bath), this can make symptoms worse.
For pain or tightness, an ice pack (or ice cubes in a washcloth) can provide relief.
There are several creams against hemorrhoids. (including Curanol cream and tablets, this form of medication is natural and works well). Through your doctor you can get lidocaine cream. This is an analgesic cream, but does not fix the problem.
Also, make sure you have as little constipation as possible; this worsens hemorrhoids.
Before bedtime, rub the hemorrhoids with a cotton pad with witch hazel or lemon juice, if necessary.
