Personalized care

The pre-consultation at the (breast) feeding consultation is not comparable to a breastfeeding information session. It is really about personalized care. So the consultation is not meant to replace a breastfeeding information session. On the contrary, it is a personalized addition, so highly recommended for everyone!

  • Individually tailored information on breast/artificial feeding choices
  • Better personal preparation
  • Preferably between 16-29 weeks of pregnancy
  • Even if you are still unsure about which food to give
  • We take a small history to provide more specific information.
  • If desired, a breast examination will take place, on which we can often already give some very specific tips regarding latching.
  • You can ask specific questions that apply to your situation.
  • You will receive general information about manual pumping and about the first 100 hours after birth.

  • Uncertainty about breasts or breastfeeding
  • Doubts about feeding choice: breastfeeding or artificial feeding
  • Questions about how breastfeeding works
  • Combining breastfeeding and pumping
  • Psychological and or social problems
  • Poor previous experience with breastfeeding

Midwives and other involved health care providers encourage breastfeeding, but your freedom of choice is paramount. When (full) breastfeeding is not an option – for whatever reason – your midwife will respect this. You will always get the information, guidance and support you need. There is help and support available, you don’t have to do it alone.
