During this ultrasound, the due date is determined. This is important to know, because this way an estimate can be made in which period the baby will be born. Also, during pregnancy, the baby’s growth can be compared well with the number of weeks you are pregnant. The due date is also on the pregnancy declaration you need to apply for maternity leave. During the first term ultrasound, it is sometimes seen that you are pregnant with 2 or more children. To facilitate the ultrasound examination, we would like you to come with a full bladder.
This ultrasound will basically be done through your belly. A full bladder makes for better images of your baby and the full bladder pushes your uterus up a bit, so the midwife can make the ultrasound even better.
The first day of your last period is used to determine your counted-out date, you can then roughly calculate your pregnancy term. We will use a term ultrasound to determine the exact gestational age and your due date. This term ultrasound can be reliably done between 10 and 13+ weeks of pregnancy.
