Throughout your pregnancy at any term starting at 6 weeks, a 2D ultrasound can be done. This can be done using a special ultrasound transducer through your abdomen. At a very early term, between 6 and 9 weeks, an internal vaginal ultrasound can be used to look at your baby. Until the end of the pregnancy, 2D allows you to visualize your baby nicely, since it matters less how the baby is lying and whether there is a hand in front of the face, for example. Later in the pregnancy, as with the 3D/4D ultrasound, the baby can no longer be fully visualized, but you see smaller parts of the baby in the image. For example, the face, a hand, foot or the gender. It is very special when you see in the image what you feel at that moment, a foot, a knee or a head moving against your uterus.

A 2D ultrasound is the familiar ultrasound in black and white image. A cross-section is made of your baby, creating an image in which the contours are clearly visible. From 6 weeks a 2D ultrasound can be made (between 6 and 9 weeks often only using a vaginal ultrasound). Until the end of the pregnancy, 2D can be used to visualize your baby nicely, since it matters less how the baby is lying and whether there is a hand in front of the face, for example. Later in the pregnancy (as with 3D/4D), the baby can no longer be fully visualized, but you see smaller parts of the baby in the image. For example, the face, a hand, foot or the gender.
You will receive all photos of the ultrasound digitally on a nice USB stick, so you will have the original photos digitally and can keep them safe forever and print them yourself on high quality photo paper. Of course, we can also put the photos on a previously received 040verloskunde USB stick if you bring it with you. We do not use self-brought sticks that are not from 040verloskunde.
Yes, you may bring your child(ren) to a pretecho, but still consider not bringing young children in your family to the ultrasound. Young children sometimes find the ultrasound exciting because the ultrasound is done in a dark room. They also often do not recognize ultrasound images and are easily distracted, so it can be distracting and you are not paying attention to the ultrasound but are more concerned with your other child. It can also be distracting for the ultrasound technician to get a good image of your child.
At the screening ultrasounds 13-week ultrasound and 20-week ultrasound performed by Diagnostics for You ultrasound technicians, it is not allowed to bring children with you. These are legal rules because it is a screening examination.
If the baby is lying very unfavorably for a nice ultrasound, we will try to change this. Should this not succeed, the ultrasound operator may decide that you can come back for another ultrasound free of charge as a service. Unfortunately, of course, we can never guarantee that you will be able to take beautiful pictures because it depends on the position of the baby.
Ultrasound is a safe technique we use to visualize organs in the body. Another name is ultrasound examination. Ultrasound consists of high-frequency waves emitted by an ultrasound head. The internal organs bounce these sound waves back, making them visible on a screen. During an ultrasound, your midwife looks at the baby, the placenta and the amount of amniotic fluid.
Ultrasound examinations are done for a variety of reasons. As far as is known now, occasional short ultrasounds during pregnancy are not harmful to the health of mother or child. It has been the subject of much scientific research and no adverse effects are known to date.
